Many states are considering ways to bring healthcare coverage to more people or to help make their healthcare dollars go further. Increasingly, state leaders recognize the importance of consumer input when planning coverage changes.

CHCD has worked with North Dakota, Ohio, Montana and Oklahoma to help inform state leaders on the priorities of their constituents. We helped redesign the CHAT tool to best reflect what each state needed to learn from its residents; trained local staff in facilitating CHAT sessions; and provided technical assistance in setting up community sessions and in capturing and reporting the results.

With CHCD's seven years of experience in using CHAT with a wide variety of participants - including the uninsured, Medicaid beneficiaries, insured employees, physicians and health policy leaders - we are well-positioned to help other states use this tool to better understand the interest and priorities of those they serve.
